Trust you are having a good week. Please find below an overview of the activities at Vivian Fowler Memorial College for girls this past week (27thSeptember 2016 to 6th October 2016)
ACADEMICS:
In an effort to maintain a high standard of teaching and learning at the school and to also ensure that teachers are following the procedures mandated by the Ministry of education, a team of education experts were in school last week to audit our teachers and academic processes. Their reports will help us fine tune our systems to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
SAFETY:
School Angel, our safety solutions provider, has resumed operations and all parents who are not yet registered with them are requested to do so.
EXCURSIONS:
The SS2B students visited the Area ‘F’ Police Divisional Headquarters, Ikeja to understand the hierarchical structure of the Nigerian police force and the duties of officers in different ranks. They were taken on a tour of some of the offices in the Command Headquarters, The Human Rights Division and a few prison cells.
JSS1 Excursion to Badagry
This is a polite reminder to JSS1 parents to sign up for the excursion to Badagry, which will take place on Monday, 10th October 2016. Please contact the school office @ 08061550543
EVENTS:
- On Monday, 3rdOctober 2016, the boarders celebrated Nigeria’s 56thIndependence day in the school hall. They remembered the contributions of Obafemi Awolowo, presented Igbo and Yoruba cultural dances to celebrate the rich culture of Nigeria and also watched a short film on how Nigeria was born a hundred years ago. We thank all our parents who joined us in the celebration.
- Our students placed 2ndout of 10 schools in the 6th Edition of the Felabration Senior Secondary Schools Debate held on Wednesday, 5th October, 2016 at Freedom Park, Lagos. They argued against the motion ‘Reparation Yes or No’ and won a computer for the school and also some attractive prizes for themselves.
- On 5thOctober 2016, World Teachers’ Day was celebrated at Vivian Fowler Memorial College for girls. The management recognized the outstanding efforts of some teachers by presenting them with awards and certificates. Every teacher was also given a gift. There were talks on financial enterprise and savings by invited speakers to help empower the teachers.
SCHOOL CLOSING:
Please be reminded that day students should be picked up at 4 pm, unless your daughter has signed up for basketball practice in which case she should be picked up at 5.30 pm. Keeping in mind the safety of students in the boarding house, the school gates will be closed at 6 pm.
PARENT –TEACHER FORUM (PTF) MEETING AND VISITING DAY:
Please save the date and join us on Saturday, 15th October 2016 at 11 am in the school hall for the 1st PTF meeting of this session.
