2.0 ACADEMICS
2.1 CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT REPORT
All JS 1,2 & 3, SS 1 & 2 students have received their Continuous Assessment Report booklets for the first half of the term. We appeal to parents to study these reports and make appropriate comments in the booklets.
These should be returned to school immediately after the mid–term break.
2.2 MID–TERM SUBJECT ASSIGNMENTS
All JSS 1- SS2 students have been given assignments in selected subjects. Parents/Guardians should please ensure that these assignments are completed and submitted to the subject teachers after mid-term break. The assignments grades form a part of the continuous assessment scores for the term.
2.3 SAT & TOEFL PROGRAMME FOR SS2 STUDENTS
The SAT & TOEFL tutorials for SS2 students will begin in April 2017.
The programme fees are as follows:
SAT – ₦220,000.00
TOEFL – ₦250,000.00

2.4 FIELD TRIPS, COMPETITIONS AND EVENTS
- 7th February – JSS2 students went on an excursion to Abeokuta. The highlights of the trip were visits to Olumo rock, the Olumo Rock Museum of History and the Pottery and Tie & Dye workshops.
- 14th February – Our students participated in Splash – An Inter-School Art Competition organized by the Indian Language school, Ilupeju. Jemimah Ogboru won 1st Prize in the senior category, while Ifekiitan Obasa won 2nd prize. In the Junior Category, Ibukun Adetola won 1st Prize and Abisayo Akinronbi won 3rd Prize.
- 14th February – Mrs.Jadesola Adediji, CEO of Bricks4Kidz Nigeria, addressed the students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) Education and Women in Technology.
- 15th February – JSS1 students went on an excursion to the Lekki Conservation Centre, Lekki.
- 16th February – SS1 Science students went on a field trip to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos
3.0 IMPORTANT DATES
3.1 CONTINUING EDUCATION/COUNSELLING FAIR
Saturday, 4th March, 2017: The 2017 edition of the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls Continuing Education/ Counselling Fair will be attended by Nigerian, UK, US, and Canadian universities and 6th form colleges. We encourage parents of our seniors to attend the event along with their daughters.

We encourage all parents to attend their daughter’s OPEN DAY. The dates are as follows:

4.0 INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES 2017
4.1 EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL TOUR OF SWITZERLAND
THURSDAY, 1ST JUNE – SATURDAY, 10TH JUNE, 2017
This is a week-long programme. Participants benefit from exposure to the French & German languages, Swiss culture and lifestyle, whilst engaging in exciting visits to places of historic, social, scientific and commercial interest which include the Lausanne Olympic Museum, Gruyere Chateau, Chocolate and Cheese Factories, the Nestle Museum, the Red Cross Museum at Geneva, The Diablerets Glacier and Gstaad, The Rhinefalls, Montreux and Chateau de Chillon amongst others.

8.2 IGGNITE 2017 – IRISH GIRL GUIDES’ INTERNATIONAL CAMP AND EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL TOUR OF IRELAND
SATURDAY 29TH JULY – FRIDAY 11TH AUGUST 2017
Ireland is a small, peaceful and unspoiled island on the edge of Europe, known worldwide for its rich heritage, splendid scenery and warm welcome. At IGGNITE 2017 participants will have the opportunity to experience a host of activities in breathtaking countryside. Activities will incorporate the Sustainable Development Goals, and include abseiling, orienteering, canoeing, outdoor cooking, hiking, crafts, dance, swimming, development education games while encouraging the girls to be responsible citizens and exploring ways that they can do that.
COST
- Programme fee: $1,700
- Airfare: Prevailing IATA rates at the time of booking
- Admin/visa fees: N120,000
- Registration: On or before Friday, 3rd March, 2017.
Registration must be accompanied by payment of the full programme fee.
PAYMENT SCHEDULE
In light of the fluctuating forex rate, it is imperative that the programme fee be paid in US Dollars for onward transfer to the organisers. The college cannot accept naira payment for the programme fee component. The full programme fee is due on or before Friday, 3rd March 2017.
Whilst the airfare and admin/visa fees can be paid in naira, the total amount will have to be paid in full on or before Friday, 15th March, 2017, failing which any subsequent increase in the airfare due to naira fluctuation will be payable.
MODE OF PAYMENT
All payments should be paid into the respective Vivian Fowler College accounts and the original tellers submitted to the school bursar on or before the specified dates and a school receipt should be obtained as evidence of payment.
